Pop star Ariana Grande is rarely seen without her signature high ponytail trailing down her back. On the rare occasions when she ditches the style she's almost unrecognizable. According to the star, the now-iconic ponytail started as a comfortable style she could article of clothing with her bleach-damaged hair.
From 2010 to 2013, Grande played Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon's serial "Victorious." The character had cherry-red hair, which meant Grande was dyeing her hair ofttimes. In 2014, Grande began wearing the high ponytail every bit her music career was taking off.
She addressed fans who might accept been annoyed by the repetitive look on Facebook, explaining why she was sticking with the ponytail for at present.
"I wear information technology in a pony tail because my bodily hair is so broken that it looks absolutely ratchet and absurd when I let information technology downward," Grande said. "It's all that works for now (AND I'yard comfy for the first time in years)."

"Since people give me such a hard time almost my hair I idea I'd take the fourth dimension to explicate the whole state of affairs to everybody. I had to bleach my hair and dye it scarlet every other week for the first four years of playing Cat... equally 1 would assume, that completely destroyed my pilus. I at present wear a wig on Sam & Cat.
My real hair is back to chocolate-brown and I wear extensions only I vesture it in a pony tail because my actual pilus is then cleaved that it looks absolutely ratchet and absurd when I let it down. I tried wigs, they looked RIDICULOUS. Tried a weave because I am working on a new project and want to try some different looks and literally wanted to rip my scalp off. So equally annoying equally it is for y'all to have to look at the aforementioned hair style all the fourth dimension, information technology'southward all that works for now (AND I'm comfy for the first fourth dimension in years).... And trust me, it's even more hard for me to have to expect forever for my natural hair to grow back and to take to article of clothing more fake hair than every elevate queen on earth combined. Then PLEASE gimme a break nigh the hair (or but don't wait at me lol). It'S Just Pilus AFTER ALL. There are way manner way more important things. Love yous very much."
By 2016, she was sticking with the ponytail and told Byrdie the wait brought her countless joy and that information technology was only how she had always liked her hair.
"I had no idea that information technology was going to get, like, a thing," Grande said. "It'south how I like my hair. It's how I've ever liked my pilus [...] It brings me and so much joy, honestly. Every time I put my pilus up, it'southward like a surprise. Similar, I forget how much I dearest it, and so I tie information technology back and I'm like, 'I honey this wait! Ooh, girl!'
